Here at The Island School, it is common for alumni to return to the school in any one of a number of positions: as interns, as members of the faculty, or as staff. As our pool of graduates grows, so does support for the program, and so does the need for leadership. In offering special three-year positions to Island School alumni, our Board of Directors provides an opportunity for alumni to fill this need and to get involved and give back in a different capacity.

Each year in April, members of both the Island School and the Cape Eleuthera Foundation Boards of Directors gather on Eleuthera for one of three annual meetings (the other two take place in Florida and Boston). This year, three of our incredible Alumni Directors joined the discussions for their last time, after each serving on the Board for three years (2014-2017). Johann Scheidt (Spring 2002), Meg Bunn (Fall 2001) and Nick Del Vecchio (Fall 2002) were each members of some of The Island School’s earliest semesters. They were pioneers, back when the number of students per semester was half what it is now. They have watched the evolution of the school and of the Cape Eleuthera Foundation, and in doing so, have collected knowledge about each of the programs that has been invaluable to the Board of Directors during their tenure. We appreciate all of their hard work and support and wish them luck in future endeavors!
