Creating a Stimulating Educational Environment, Using the Environment
The Local Schools Program seeks to enhance student-centered learning using environmental education as an entry point. We create opportunities for Bahamian children to experience environmental stewardship and gain exposure to options for how to live well in a place.
An Environment of Excellence
We apply three objectives together for program effectiveness:
Objective 1:
Develop environmental education resources that are locally relevant. These resources align with the Bahamian National Curriculum for primary and secondary schools.
Objective 2:
Provide ongoing professional development in environmental education methodology to increase level of instruction and knowledge for teachers of Eleuthera.
Objective 3:
Facilitate opportunities for students to develop, test, and apply new ideas and new knowledge while gaining an understanding of the ecosystems of Eleuthera.
