Project Manager

The Coastal Conservation League seeks a self-motivated individual with excellent communication and organizational skills and a strong work ethic to join its Charleston office staff as a Project Manager. The Coastal Conservation League is a non-profit conservation organization supported by 5,000 members with a staff of 25 in offices in Charleston, Beaufort, Georgetown and Columbia. The mission of the League is to protect the natural environment of the South Carolina coastal plain and to enhance the quality of life of our communities by working with individuals, businesses and government to ensure balanced solutions.

Terms: Full time including nights and weekends

Primary Function:
Manages issues and projects as assigned to address issues of interest to the Coastal Conservation League. Program emphasis areas include land use and transportation, air and water quality, energy and climate issues and sustainable agriculture.

• Work closely with Program Directors, Assistant Director and Executive Director in developing strategic action plans for specific projects
• Complete data collection and analysis as assigned
• Provide leadership and support grassroots efforts as assigned
• Attend public meetings and hearings to gather information and/or represent the Leagues interests
• Work with the team leader to determine what facts and analysis are required to support the League’s position and develops the plan and timetable for data collection and analysis
• Work with the team leader to determine when and how to mobilize external constituencies and makes sure that the necessary alliances and relationships are built and maintained
• Ask for support from more senior staff when required
• Help maintain effective working relationships with governmental bodies, sister environmental organizations, and major foundations
• Help develop and nurture relationships with Board members, donors and members of the League
• Perform related duties as assigned by the Program Director, Assistant Director or Executive Director

Organizational Relationships:
Administratively reports to the Assistant Director. On specific projects, reports to Program Director as assigned. The Program Director will provide evaluation and feedback on project performance. Depending on the project, the Project Manager may manage other staff (and volunteers) assigned to project teams.

Compensation: The Coastal Conservation League offers a generous compensation package.
Salaries are commensurate with experience.
