The Island School will miss Sandy Mactaggart. Sandy was a rare Scottish privateer who loved The Bahamas as much as any place on Earth. He believed strongly in the spirit of adventure as the most powerful way to learn. Through the generosity of the extended Mactaggart family, we have been able to launch our expeditionary sailing program, allowing students to sail over the horizon and explore the Exumas Land and Sea Park, the first ever marine protected area on our planet.  Sandy cherished the  Exumas and spent much time on Soldier Cay. We will be forever grateful for his leadership and his joy de vivre. The conch horn will continue to sound in his honor. One of Sandy’s favorite quotations:
